So Jo, what’s going on?

Hi Gaz! I’m good thanks!

Let’s start by taking a look at your impressive modelling CV shall we? You’ve done quite a few mags and seem to be a particular favourite of Maxim Espanol which is in Spain? – What’s your appeal over there do you think?

It’s the Maxim Espanol I’m in which is in Mexico, I am actually half Spanish, so I guess it’s just my dark eyes and long brown hair that appeals to all the Spanish and Latin American guys! J

You’ve even been called back soon to feature in the December special for the hottest girls of 2011 – they certainly have taste! How does it feel to know that an entire country regards you as one of the hottest girls they’ve seen all year?

Thank you!! I am very excited about this, I’m going in for a 10 page feature, and getting my first front cover next April for it!! It’s really really flattering, and just makes me feel really proud to of achieved something like this; I never dreamed I’d be a Maxim Model, let alone a Maxim cover girl!! It’s just very exciting J

I hear as well that you are also being considered for cover shoot! Do you feel a bit of pressure on you or is it just one huge thrill?

Yes! I do feel under pressure to try and look my absolute best, being on the cover is a massive massive thing , your essentially the face and body selling the magazine so it’s quite daunting but also at the same time such a massive thrill and accomplishment!

As well as Maxim Espanol, you’ve also done the ultimate: Playboy, not just once – but 5 times! What was it like?

Yes I have! Playboy was literally the first major magazine publication I shot for, and I remember I was SO nervous, it felt surreal knowing I was shooting for Playboy! I’m so proud I got the opportunity to be a part of it; I just remember being so excited yet so nervous that I had to keep breathing deeply to calm my nerves! (Laughs)

Of the 5 Playboy appearances which shoot was your favourite?

Definitely the Playboy Nudes issue, I was all hot and soapy in the shower, the pictures were so classy and tastefully done yet so sexy at the same time! J

Really?? Are back issues still available?? Purely for the interests of research you understand! If Heff asked would you ever be tempted to give up the UK and become a ‘live in’ bunny at the mansion?

No (Laughs), I don’t like being in the spotlight and like my private and personal life too much, I wouldn’t like to be that much in the limelight, I think I’d find it really daunting !

You seem to be pretty perfect as you were also one of the main characters for the Duke Nukem video game and got to mess around with some meaty firearms – quite a sexy combo! Are you much of a gamer?

Why thank you! Yes I love games!! I’m a bit of a game geek at heart; I love games like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, anything where I get to kick some ass! (Laughs)

What was it like being a character and shooting with Rosie Jones and Stacey Massey? Are you all bad girls on the inside?

It was awesome fun and again a very very cool opportunity, I’ve always looked up to Rosie in particular as a model, and she is lovely in person, they both are very lovely down to earth girls!

Yeah they seem lovely – maybe we should get them on iCandy – what do you think? But not only that though; besides Playboy, games and guns, you were Miss Fast Car last year and did quite a bit for them – are you a bit of a petrol head too then?

Yes I did! (Laughs) That was a lot of fun the Fast Car guys are great, they’re such cool guys, I do like fast cars!

Ok, now down to the standard questions we all want to know – are you single?

Bugger! What attracts you to a guy?

Gorgeous eyes and smile, a great personality and got to be funny is always a winner!

What are your goals and ambitions?

I’d love to become more established in my modelling career and get a few more things under my belt, maybe FHM one day who knows….  but my ultimate passion is to become a make-up artist and photographer , I find all the behind the camera stuff very fun and love making people look pretty  J

Well we know a few models that have turned tog! What do you do when you’re not working – how do you relax?

I love going to the gym for a good workout or going to dance class which I absolutely love

Is that it? I’d be slinging stuff out of the window left right and centre – but then I have a ground floor flat! Other than what we’ve already mentioned what else have you got coming up?

I have a few things coming up but don’t want to give too much away so just watch this space!

So, after a few email exchanges I went along to Monica’s office to find out more about Models Fight Night. I’ve read the website, I’ve seen the YouTube clips and as excited as I am about this event, I’m used to models being girly and sweet and soft and lovely…the thought of some girls slugging each other in front of 2000 people did make me wonder if this was going to be a glorified cat fight but I was wrong. Boy! Was I wrong….I half expect Monica to answer her office door and tower over me, biceps bulging but I’m greeted by a grinning, girl looking every bit as cute as girls do.

Monica is bouncing with energy despite the fact she tells me that she’s working 17 hour long days organising and planning Models Fight Night, she grins constantly and I can tell that she’s intensely excited and fueled about the event. She’s adorable and gazes at me with big crystal blue eyes as she talks but when she talks about boxing and training; there’s a twinkle in those eyes and I realise that this girl means business – serious ‘I could floor you with one stoke’ business.

She tells me about their intense training sessions and I go along to see myself first hand how they train and it’s seriously intense – it’s just like back in school when you’d mucked about before the lesson in PE and the games teacher decided to punish you by doing circuit training! It involves doing press-ups and burpees for 4-6 minutes with no more than a 20 second (YES 20 SECOND) break as penance for talking while training. These girls are hard core, these girls are fighters, these girls are professional, these girls….. are Models Fight Night.

In the coming weeks we’ll be featuring the fighters in preparation for the main event on 1 September at the HMV Forum and iCandy will be there! So, to kick off, here she is, the guv’nor herself; Monica Harris.

So Monica, How did you get involved with Models Fight Night?
Well I came up with concept a few years ago after hearing about a children’s home. The kids there will be in the home permanently. I realised they’d probably never had a holiday or experienced what its like to look forward to something. I decided to raise money to send them on a holiday of a lifetime. I didn’t want to do something normal because I know the more crazy my idea the better it would be. It was a massive success and this year I decided to do it all properly, get a full professional team to train the girls; The Boxing Clinic. The also do MMA there and the owner runs Cage Warriors which goes out on Sky. Hardcore!

Are you ever worried about what could happen in the ring?
(Laughs) No not at all. I spar a lot and have learned great defensive skills. I don’t mind taking punches. I counter-fight, so I will always look for an opening then unleash my combinations!

Wow! OK! You train pretty hard, and having been along to one of your sessions I’ve seen first hand it’s intense! How are you finding the training regime?
The training is amazing but at the time, I hate it! It’s really hard and they push us to the max! You need it though, 3 rounds doesn’t sound long, but its like a life time if you’re not fit. I have been dropping girls this year who have not been at the standard we want. We started with 24 girls and are down to 16. Some girls didn’t cut it, the final models we have are brilliant though.

You all train together so you obviously know your competition but you don’t know who your opponent is – who are you most worried about drawing in the bouts?
I have to say I’m not worried about fighting any of them. I have done it before and know what to expect. Last time I had a torn shoulder and won, this time I won’t have that problem. I analyse everything and so I know how every one of them fights and I know how I can get round them!

Sneaky! What’s your speciality move? What should we be looking out for from you?
I have a good jab and cross. I’ve worked hard on my cross this year to get it on point! (laughs)

Remind me not to get on the wrong side of you! It’s going to be a big night, how do you feel about slugging it out in front of 2000 people?
I can’t wait! I was buzzing last year on the night. It can’t come quick enough for me!

What have you got planned for after the event?
The will be an afterparty which people can get tickets for soon! Me and the girls will be going to let our hair down – I’ve been behaving for a while now so I can be fighting fit and put my energy into training. After the party I’m off to Ibiza!

I’m sure you deserve the break! I hope you’ll not be going with any bruises! Have you ever had to use your skills to fend off amorous advances?
I have never needed to, they can normally tell by my face when the attention is unwanted (laughs) that’s normally enough!

Aside from Models Fight Night, what else have you got in the pipeline, where are we going to be seeing you?At
the moment this is my life! Its all I am doing, I say ‘all’ but I am working 17 hours a day on it sometimes. There’s a hell of a lot to do! I have a lot of press coverage happening over the next few weeks, features in Muscle and Fitness, Martial Arts Illustrated and loads more! We’ve also got a calendar coming out plus the TV show on Sky which will be great viewing!

We’ll tune in for that! You must get guys hitting on you, pardon the pun, are they shocked when they find out you’re a boxer on the side?
Yeah guys are scared of me! They say I intimidate them! That’s probably why I am still single (laughs)

You’re single? Hmmm so if we went on a date you’d be walking ME home safely then! (laughs) So why should the iCandylanders support you on Models Fight Night? What’s your message to everyone out there?
They should support me because I am working hard on this to help this years charity – The Katie Piper Foundation. Katie’s foundation are working hard to open a centre in the UK so people can receive breakthrough treatment for burns, which is not currently offered here in the UK

What’s you favourite feature? In regards to females, I’d say the midriff, I love women with flat/toned stomachs… As far as my favourite feature, erm It would have to be between one of two… either my eyes or my lips, you tell me ??

How sexy would you say you are on a scale of 1-10?
Erm I’d say around 8

What do you do to keep your body looking like that?
I take part in many sports and physical activites when I have the chance, like playing basketball at least twice a week, I also do sets of 50 press ups and sit ups throughout the course of each day.

What do you look for in a woman and why?
I tend to go for girls who have respect for herself and others, sex appeal, confident but not cocky because she has to be confident in herself to trust me and realise that i chose to get with her and not the other girls around. She’s gotta be smart so she could stimulate my mind with good conversation (cant deal with air heads lol), ambitious, funny, outgoing, relaxed and patience is a big one for me…i’m not being too picky am I ??? lol!

Winter or Summer and why?
Most definately summer, simply because everyone’s happier…therefore encouraging positive vibes/attitudes and good energy…

Love or lust and why?
Hmm well lust is all good at initial thought, its the infactuation stage aint it…lust is pretty much based around the factor of sexual compatibility, its all amazing at the start but when/if the lust dies out, you are left with just someone you probably dont fancy anymore or have any feelings for and that’s not really enough for a great relationship is it lol so in the end it all comes down to love i guess.

Who would you save in a house fire Beyonce or Halle Berry? You can only save one.
Thats an easy one…Halle Berry no doubt !!!

Who do people say that you look like?
The main 3 guys i have been told i resemble are flex washington, tyrese and tyson beckford , i also get the odd few saying morris chestnut and the dude from beyonce’s irreplacable video :-S…lucky me ay lol

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for someone?
I havent had much chance to be romantic, maybe thats down to the fact I have only ever been in one relationship… I was 18 when I did the only one thing in my life that I can say is somewhat close to romantic lol. Basically I took my girlfriend to the cinema, at the end of the movie I slipped my gift into the hood of her jacket, told her a bee fell into the hood and I was too scared to get it out in order to make her reach into her hoodie herself, she pulled out the so called bee and to her surprise it was a a tiffany’s necklace (very romantic i know lol)
