Fancy taking a little Peek?

Peeks
Allow us to introduce you to Peeks. This 26 year old Glaswegian native is a model, presenter and runs her own graphic/ web design company. Multi-talented enough? Well it gets even better because this lady also has a published book under her belt and is currently working on a graphic novel called Chicken and Chips.
iCandy had a quick chat with Peeks to find out what makes this one woman mogul tick!
You’re pretty much as talented as they come. Is there anything you can’t do?
Oh gosh well thank you but there’s plenty I can’t do [laughs]. I do love learning new things, especially in the creative & entertainment arts. I do always want to climb and achieve more, especially as an entrepreneur. I work with a great team at MO-AM Masters [are collective of web designers, producers and artists who create media magic] who challenge me to do better. I just wish learning was this much fun for me in school!
You’re a super sexy model, presenter and graphic/web designer – but which do you most enjoy and why?
Wow, more flattery! Thank you [laughs]. It’s a tough choice but I would say graphic design because there is so much you can do with it, the possibilities seem endless. I love seeing a blank canvas change into something unique or experimenting with images its exciting stuff!
What brought you to London?
It was actually through singing! I used to visit London all the time because I love this city and I met the producer Overlord X whilst here on holiday. He thought I would be a great fit for a London based girl band called Tommi. I joined the group and moved down here when the band got a recording deal with Warner. That was in 2000 & I’ve been here ever since. So I guess you could say fate brought me here.
Where do you get your ideas for your graphic novel Chicken & Chips? Are the characters based on real people?
Now that would be telling! I wanted to do a cartoon based on British youth and culture, I can say the characters are based loosely on real people. I think that gives the characters a real sense of personality. I have already completed a graphic novel called “Real” for WCEN that got distributed in southwest London through the metropolitan police on gang culture. I’ve also produced a weekly comic strip but there is so much more I want to do creatively so watch this space!

Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
Definitely setting up my graphic design company Kikalomy with MO-AM and also completing graphic novels for the Metropolitan police, NHS & WCEN, you can see some of it online.
With my modeling career it has to be featuring on the ad campaign for Apple Bottom Jeans for 2 years. The posters were shown throughout Europe which was so exciting! The ads were even featured in the main Apple Bottom store in Dubai. The campaign can be seen on the MO-AM website!
What’s your ultimate ambition in life?
I want to have my own shop selling my illustrations, designs, toys & books. I have a lot of ideas and I’m working on constructing that at the moment. It’s no sleep for me until it’s done!
What sets you apart from other models?
I’m not sure as I don’t think that I’m better then anybody else but the fact that I do so many other things professionally does gives me an advantage. It’s a hugely competitive industry so the more you can do the better your chances of success! Also being half Scottish & Nigerian usually throws people off a wee bit but in a good way.
What do you miss most about Scotland?
The biggest thing of course is my family as my sisters are my best friends but I’ve got skype now baby [laughs]. I really miss the Scottish sense of humor. Scots are hilarious if ye kin unerston the banter wee barra! The one thing I am glad to be shot of is the bloomin rain! Sorry Glasgow
