If you thought that Peru was most famous for llamas, it’s time to think again. A Peruvian national treasure, Cynthia has put Lima back on the map in a big way. In fact, you’re most likely dribbling over one of Peru’s most famous celebs.

Winning best new model of the year when she was just 16, Cynthia has worked with Peru’s most prestigious media brands earning her place in catalogues, fashion shows, TV adverts and several Latin soaps and series. It kind of makes Eastenders look bad…if it didn’t already.

Cynthia’s big break came when she was convinced to enter the Miss Peru competition. Although a runner-up (man, I’d love to meet the girl that won!) she got the international exposure she needed and was soon jetting off to Miami, attending the Latin Billboard Awards and Grammys, and impressing a number of industry bigwigs keen to work with her.

Ready to go anywhere for her work (and who wouldn’t be if your work takes you to LA and the Seychelles?) Cynthia plans to eventually move to New York as a base to travel the world. Why does New York get all the talent? Old York must be gutted.

You work takes you a long way from home. Do you miss Peru?
Yes, I always do – I love my country. Peru is amazing and every time I’m away I can’t wait to come back home – but I do love traveling and getting to know other cultures.

What is it about modeling that is so appealing?
I love my job – I get to travel a lot and meet wonderful people all over the world. Modeling has taken me to amazing places!

You have become a national celebrity in Peru. Is it difficult to travel to new countries where you are relatively unknown?
Well, maybe it is if you want to start over and deal with certain things in another country, but I really like it when people appreciate my work and follow my career.

You’ve starred in many Latin soaps – is acting something you are going to pursue further?
Definitely. My real passion is acting. With all the traveling, I wasn’t able to completely focus on my acting career. I’ve been part of some great productions soap opera productions in Peru, and I think is time to take it to the next level!

What are your ambitions and goals?
I want to get better and better as an actress. I know that it takes a lot of studying and dedication – so that’s what I’m planning to do
