As a newly established model Carmen has worked, 2 years running for the Urban Music Awards, she has been featured in videos for the likes of Goodfellaz, Megaman, Sway, Mr Midas , Donaeo and looks to venture further a field and work with international artists. Carmen has also presented for Triforce promotions where she was able to interview the likes of Aml Ameen.
If that’s not enough Carmen was one of 12th finalists in the Miss Hip Hop Beauty competition which was hosted by Jump off. She has also been mentioned as one of the UK’s hottest models on PDC’s eye candy.
Carmen was recently featured in a book on ‘Real Black Women’ by Emerzy Corbin which was inspired by the release of Vogue Italia’s All Black Issue. The book focuses on the real beauty and essence in black women today and Carmen was thrilled to be asked to feature as one of the models in the book.
Carmen is now focusing on her music career. She is currently working with producers and writers and sets to take her career stateside. She is currently working on a new online show called Carmen’s Close-ups. The purpose of the show is to follow Carmen on her travels to photo shoots, video shoots, interviews and award Ceremonies. Also, look out for Carmen Leigh’s 2010 calendar which is due to hit online websites and stores later this year!”

Which variety of music are you working on?
I am currently working on 3 tracks at the moment. One of which is a slow RnB track, which reminds me of one of Dru Hill’s many hit records. The other is a feature on a grime/ hip hop tune and the third is a funky house track, you just knew I had to get that one in there *Laughs*
Is there an international star you would like to work with?
Yes. ooo can I pick more than one please? On the music scene I’d love to have a track written by Teedra Moses as I love her style and unfortunately she isn’t recognised as I think she should be; however the list is endless…
You are currently in the UK what is your favourite hot spot in London?
I spend the majority of my time working and recently working hard on my website, however, if I had to suggest somewhere to eat it would have to be a brilliant Thai restaurant in Victoria.
What was the nicest thing someone did for you?
I used to babysit my baby cousin every week for about 5-6 months and I could no longer look after him as I was going away for the summer. So he made me a little card to say thank you for looking after him and he gave me a Lip gloss and Mascara, a kiss and a cuddle which is just what I needed aww *smiles*
Which is your much-loved shoot so far?
It will have to be the most recent shoot that I did for my website with Koax in London and Keith Curtis in Southampton. I was able to do a mixture of shots which slightly steered away from the predictable glamour shots that I tend to do. I was made to wear things that I wouldn’t even dream of wearing or think to put together, my make-up was extraordinary and I felt like I was about to step on to the set of single ladies at one point. The shoot had an element of Sashia Firece, America’s Next Top Model and the feel of Desperate Housewives all rolled in to one but in Carmen style…It was amazing!!
Can you enlighten us to any occupational hazards?
Yes. Research into the industry is a must, it should be mandatory. Do not be so quick to go under the wing of anybody who says they are an agent or work for an agency and can make you big without doing research first. Do not be drawn in to do everything that comes your way for the sake of it, however, if there is substance from the job that you are about to do then go for it, but do not over saturate yourself as it is easily done. Start blogging, create your own personal website, have business cards made and network, network, network!
